Mascara Wars: Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Vs. CoverGirl Lash Blast (with pictures)

So,for the longest time I've been using the Maybelline Colossal Volum' for...pretty much ever, and after a while i wanted to try something new. So, I went to CVS to browse around cause lately I've been couped up in the house and I'll pretty much find any reason to get out. Now, all the hype on the CoverGirl Lash Blast got me curious so i went for it and heres what i think.(i also lucked out and got the last Very Black in the Non-Waterproof, because waterproof irritates my eyes)

Maybelline-$7.49      CoverGirl-$8.99

Now before i get into what i think and all the pictures of my lashes with the mascaraon , lets get into some facts about both of these mascaras. For starters, the Last Blast tube is larger than the Colossal Volum', but in the Lash Blast there are .44oz and there are .31oz in the Colossal Volum'.

The wand on each mascara is pretty diffrent. The Colossal Volum' wand is pretty thick and the bristles are a pretty good length, also it tapers off really well for being a pretty big brush. Lash Blast on the other hand ,the wand itself is thick but the bristles are short also the wand just kind of cuts off and dosent really taper to a point.

Anways..thats enough of that.

Ok, so I'm one of those people that can tell if they are gonna like something within the first time of trying it and i have to say..i was pretty impressed with the Lash Blast, it definitly thickens and seperates my lashes and it gives me length. But the Colossal Volum' gives me more length and wispyness. The brushes on both of them I really like but over all i pick the Colossal over the Lash Blast because when i apply my mascara i do it on the top of my lashes too so if the wand is too big it'll get all over my eyelid. The Colossal Volum' is a little flaky i have to admit but over all i love it. Now something i discovered is puting the Colossal Volum' on first then the Lash Blast, it gives you that wispy length and the thickness. Now,to see it for yourselves:

Tip of the Week!- Help with too much blush or bronzer

This weeks tip is a pretty short one so lets just get to it!

Have you ever experienced that moment after you apply your blush and when you look in a diffrent mirror and your face resembles that of a circus clown. Well here are some tips to help you on those days where you just OD'ed on blush.

  • Apply your blush gradually, and build up to the desired look.
  • Use a cosmetic sponge to buff off the excessive blush or bronzer, this dosent disrupt the rest of your face makeup it just helps to take what you don't want .
  • Use your face powder and dust over the area lightly untill it looks good .

Come back next week for the Tip of the week!

Tip of the week- Help with eyeshadow fallout!(Prevention and cleaning)

So..I totally forget to do the tip of the week last week and...I'm sorry.

This week's tip is on eyeshadow fallout. How to keep the mess from happening and what to do if it happens to you. So, lets get this show on the road and here are some tips on eyeshadow fallout-
  • Do your eye makeup first, I usually only do this only when I know that the look im doing is going to be really intense and the colors are really dark.
  • Take your face powder or any translucent powder with a big brush and heavily apply it under your eyes so the eyeshadow will fall on the powder and not your skin. Then when you're done with your eyeshadow just brush away the translucent powder and you should be good to go.
  • Put a little bit of eyecream on a sponge and wipe off the eyeshadow, this acts like an eraser for fallout.
  • There are little stickers you can put under your eyes to keep the fallout from getting on your face. They are called Shadow Shields you can get them at ShadowSheilds.com (see the picter below)

Thank you for reading, tune in next week for the tip of the week!

Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle-Experiment

So, last week starting on monday and ending on friday i used Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle - Salon strength because i wanted to see if it would really work! (There are pictures at the end so just stick with me)

I..absolutely love it. It actually gives you longer nails in 5 days! Now, my middle finger on my right hand did chip ,thats my unlucky nail that tends to be short but other than that its awsome. I got mine for a little less than 10 dollers at walgreens, and it is pricey but i think it's well worth the price. The one i got came with a free gift and it was a cuticle balm, i didnt like that as much but i didnt use it as much.

Now it says to apply every other day to dry nails , and i did. I love the fact that you can use it as a base coat also because I love nail polish and i already wear a strengthening base coat but im definitly going to use this as my base coat from now on.

Quite simply..this product is awsome and i recomend it to anybody that wants longer nails .

Now on to the results, here are some pictures from  day 1 and day 5 , because i didnt want to just tell you it was awsome, i wanted to show you! So, enjoy.

Tip of the week- Keeping lipstick from running and smudging

Now, if you've ever worn lipstick you might be able to relate to this tip of the week. Weather you are young or old you probobly have had one of those days where your lipstick went off the grid...and i can totally relate. When i was younger, i went through a red lipstick phase, it didn't matter what shade it was as long and it was red, and day after day i would put my lipstick on just to have it smudge or get into the little lines around my lips , which we all know is completely unattractive and slightly embarrising. Well, its my duty as a makeup artist to spread the knowledge that can save us from lookin like a big hot mess.

Here are some tips to keep lipstick from running and smudging-
  • Lip Liner, we've all heard of this tip but it actually works! Lip liners are a diffrent consistancy than lipstick so they aren't going to move very far , if it moves at all.
  • Lip primer, you want to do this before lip liner, i should have put this first but i wanted to put more obvious things first. The lip primer is really gonna smooth out the surface of your lips and help the lipstick stay. Bare Escentuals has a "Lip Rev-er Upper" that im in love with, it can actually act as an invisible lip liner, but i use lip liner anyways as a precaution.
  • Take your concealer and use it around the lips , do this after the lipstick and put it on the edge where the lipstick ends. This kind of acts as a wall so the lipstick has a barrier and won't go past it.
Thanks for reading this weeks tip of the week!! Come back next week for more tips!
