Tip of the week!- Keeping your eyeshadow on all day!

So, this week's tip is gonna be really short. I've been working to get more things together for this blog because sometimes when i come to do the tip of the week I get really blank so I want to have some interesting things to tell you guys .

Anyways, here are some tips for keeping on your eyeshadow all day:
  • Use and eyeshadow primer, yes they can be a bit pricey at times but it's totally worth it. Just apply it all over your lid up to your eyebrow then apply any eyeshadow you want.
  • If you don't have an eyeshadow primer use some concealer or foundation on your eyelid then set it with some translucent powder then apply your powder eyeshadow. DON"T USE THIS WITH CREME EYESHADOW! It'll just blend together and create a really wierd color and you don't want that.
Thanks for reading the tip of the week and i promise there will be better stuff in the future.

Tip of the week- Mascara smudges

This week's tip is short and sweet. It's all about mascara smudges, wether its on your eyelid or if you have a random eye spazm and its all under your eye. Here are some tips to help with those woes.
  • WAIT! Wait a few minutes and let the mascara dry up and it should chip right off without causing a disaster to the eyeshadow you put on but, if you do end up with a bald spot just fill in the blank with whatever eyeshadow goes there.
  • If you went too far and now the mascara has smeared just use a little makeup remover or mousturizer on a q-tip and take it off and, like i said before, just fill in the blank where the eyeshadow was.

Tip of the week- How to make your lips look bigger!

This weeks tip of the week is for pretty much everyone, even me. Alot of people i come in contact want full plumped up lips without the use of collagen or lip plumpers. So, here are some tips on how to get a plumped up pout:
  • Apply a light reflecting concealer right outside the line of your lips and blend out, it'll create shading so your pout looks plumped
  • Use a lipliner and line your lips a little bit outside your natural lip line, dont go too far or you'll like a hot mess, we want to keep it more on the natural side.
  • Use a gloss, colored or clear
  • Apply a sparkly lipgloss in the center of your bottom lip, IF you're using a colored gloss, you can use a color one shade lighter than the base gloss just use the same placement as the sparkle one. This makes your bottom lip look bigger and poutier

Mascara Wars: Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Vs. CoverGirl Lash Blast (with pictures)

So,for the longest time I've been using the Maybelline Colossal Volum' for...pretty much ever, and after a while i wanted to try something new. So, I went to CVS to browse around cause lately I've been couped up in the house and I'll pretty much find any reason to get out. Now, all the hype on the CoverGirl Lash Blast got me curious so i went for it and heres what i think.(i also lucked out and got the last Very Black in the Non-Waterproof, because waterproof irritates my eyes)

Maybelline-$7.49      CoverGirl-$8.99

Now before i get into what i think and all the pictures of my lashes with the mascaraon , lets get into some facts about both of these mascaras. For starters, the Last Blast tube is larger than the Colossal Volum', but in the Lash Blast there are .44oz and there are .31oz in the Colossal Volum'.

The wand on each mascara is pretty diffrent. The Colossal Volum' wand is pretty thick and the bristles are a pretty good length, also it tapers off really well for being a pretty big brush. Lash Blast on the other hand ,the wand itself is thick but the bristles are short also the wand just kind of cuts off and dosent really taper to a point.

Anways..thats enough of that.

Ok, so I'm one of those people that can tell if they are gonna like something within the first time of trying it and i have to say..i was pretty impressed with the Lash Blast, it definitly thickens and seperates my lashes and it gives me length. But the Colossal Volum' gives me more length and wispyness. The brushes on both of them I really like but over all i pick the Colossal over the Lash Blast because when i apply my mascara i do it on the top of my lashes too so if the wand is too big it'll get all over my eyelid. The Colossal Volum' is a little flaky i have to admit but over all i love it. Now something i discovered is puting the Colossal Volum' on first then the Lash Blast, it gives you that wispy length and the thickness. Now,to see it for yourselves:

Tip of the Week!- Help with too much blush or bronzer

This weeks tip is a pretty short one so lets just get to it!

Have you ever experienced that moment after you apply your blush and when you look in a diffrent mirror and your face resembles that of a circus clown. Well here are some tips to help you on those days where you just OD'ed on blush.

  • Apply your blush gradually, and build up to the desired look.
  • Use a cosmetic sponge to buff off the excessive blush or bronzer, this dosent disrupt the rest of your face makeup it just helps to take what you don't want .
  • Use your face powder and dust over the area lightly untill it looks good .

Come back next week for the Tip of the week!

Tip of the week- Help with eyeshadow fallout!(Prevention and cleaning)

So..I totally forget to do the tip of the week last week and...I'm sorry.

This week's tip is on eyeshadow fallout. How to keep the mess from happening and what to do if it happens to you. So, lets get this show on the road and here are some tips on eyeshadow fallout-
  • Do your eye makeup first, I usually only do this only when I know that the look im doing is going to be really intense and the colors are really dark.
  • Take your face powder or any translucent powder with a big brush and heavily apply it under your eyes so the eyeshadow will fall on the powder and not your skin. Then when you're done with your eyeshadow just brush away the translucent powder and you should be good to go.
  • Put a little bit of eyecream on a sponge and wipe off the eyeshadow, this acts like an eraser for fallout.
  • There are little stickers you can put under your eyes to keep the fallout from getting on your face. They are called Shadow Shields you can get them at ShadowSheilds.com (see the picter below)

Thank you for reading, tune in next week for the tip of the week!

Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle-Experiment

So, last week starting on monday and ending on friday i used Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle - Salon strength because i wanted to see if it would really work! (There are pictures at the end so just stick with me)

I..absolutely love it. It actually gives you longer nails in 5 days! Now, my middle finger on my right hand did chip ,thats my unlucky nail that tends to be short but other than that its awsome. I got mine for a little less than 10 dollers at walgreens, and it is pricey but i think it's well worth the price. The one i got came with a free gift and it was a cuticle balm, i didnt like that as much but i didnt use it as much.

Now it says to apply every other day to dry nails , and i did. I love the fact that you can use it as a base coat also because I love nail polish and i already wear a strengthening base coat but im definitly going to use this as my base coat from now on.

Quite simply..this product is awsome and i recomend it to anybody that wants longer nails .

Now on to the results, here are some pictures from  day 1 and day 5 , because i didnt want to just tell you it was awsome, i wanted to show you! So, enjoy.

Tip of the week- Keeping lipstick from running and smudging

Now, if you've ever worn lipstick you might be able to relate to this tip of the week. Weather you are young or old you probobly have had one of those days where your lipstick went off the grid...and i can totally relate. When i was younger, i went through a red lipstick phase, it didn't matter what shade it was as long and it was red, and day after day i would put my lipstick on just to have it smudge or get into the little lines around my lips , which we all know is completely unattractive and slightly embarrising. Well, its my duty as a makeup artist to spread the knowledge that can save us from lookin like a big hot mess.

Here are some tips to keep lipstick from running and smudging-
  • Lip Liner, we've all heard of this tip but it actually works! Lip liners are a diffrent consistancy than lipstick so they aren't going to move very far , if it moves at all.
  • Lip primer, you want to do this before lip liner, i should have put this first but i wanted to put more obvious things first. The lip primer is really gonna smooth out the surface of your lips and help the lipstick stay. Bare Escentuals has a "Lip Rev-er Upper" that im in love with, it can actually act as an invisible lip liner, but i use lip liner anyways as a precaution.
  • Take your concealer and use it around the lips , do this after the lipstick and put it on the edge where the lipstick ends. This kind of acts as a wall so the lipstick has a barrier and won't go past it.

Tip of the week!!!- How to make your eyes look bigger!

I think everyone i work with wants their eyes to look bigger, well with some makeup and and little know how you can have those bigger eyes you've always wanted!

Here are some tips:
  • Line your lower lashline with a dark color only halfway in! It'll open up your eyes more.
  • Use white eyeliner on the waterline, not only does it make your eyes look bigger it also makes you look more awake espcially if you've had a rough night.
  • Keep your eyebrows well groomed, it may not seem like it would matter but without all that excess hair it opens up your face
  • Use a light frosty color on your eyelid and a midtone shadow on your crease, i know it sounds like eyeshadow 101 but colors that are too dark can weigh down your eyes
  • Curl your lashes and add alot of mascara..and i mean alot, dont be stingy
Thanks for reading the tip of the week!!! Come back next week for more!

One Year Older..

Tomorrow is my birthday.

I'm not totally sure about how i feel. It seems to me that after a certain age, getting older is not measured by birthday's anymore. It's about fine lines, wrinkles and age spots.

In the beauty industry we have to do our best to stay young and hip and with the trends so we can relate to the demographic. I'm not middle aged or anything im actually just turning 20. Im the youngest person where i work and sometimes i feel like the oldest.

Anyways, this blog isnt about my age.

Thanks for reading!

PS: Your only as young as you feel.

Makeup Tip of the week...How to Keep Eyeliner from Smudging

Every week im going to put a new tip on here just so i can make sure that i keep up with my blog and it dosent just diffuse into nothing, so here we go with our very first tip!

Here are some tips to keep your eyeliner from smudging:
  • Eyeshadow Primer, its not just for eyeshadow, it really does help with liner, just apply all over your eyelid , and your lower lash line to help liner stay.
  • Use a water proof or a water resistant formula, it gives it more staying power
  • Use a form of sealer like Bare Escentuals "Weather Everything", Benefit "She Laq" or Ben Nye "Final Seal"
  • Use an Eyeliner brush, even with pencil liner! Just take the brush (a flat angled brush works well for this) and run it over the tip of the pencil , then apply it. For liquids or gel/cream liners i like a slim pointed brush, but you can use whatever you prefer.
  • Use an eyeshadow or powder close to your liner color to set the eyeliner in place
  • Take your face powder with an eyeshadow brush and press it right under the liner on the lower lashes, it acts as a barrier to keep the liner from going places you dont want it.

Thanks for reading and tune in for next weeks tip!

Coastal Scents Gel Liners Review

So, about a month ago I ordered 2 coastal scents gel liners in Deep Plum and Platinum, after watching video after video of review i decided that the only way to know if im going to like it is to try it out myself.

I loved them so i decided to get 8 more. The only ones that i dont have are 24k, maroon, peach bellini, and truffle. There will be swatches and pictures at the bottom of the review.

So lets get to the review, Shall we?

What i like:

-These are very pigmented , i love the color pay off

-The Conisistancy is very creamy and they glide on pretty well

-They are long lasting and pretty water resistant, if you have oily lids you might need to set them with an eyeshadow

-You can layer them if you want it darker

-They would be great as a base under your eyeshadow if you wanted to make the shadow POP

-I'm im love with the packaging they come in glass jars , some people dont like them because they think they might break easily but unless your slamming it on concrete it shouldnt break.

-The shipping was pretty fast, i ordered on a saturday and it came on a thursday and it was with the cheap shipping.

What I don't Like:

-The true black and the skyline got kind of melty in the heat, i put it in the freezer for a couple minutes and it was fine

-You have to let it set for a few minutes after you apply it so it can dry

-You also have to use a good eyeshadow primer so it doesnt flake off or wear away, The only reason i know this is because i tested it with and without primer on my hand and rubbed over it. I havent tried it without primer on my lids but it has good staying power , i just wanted to share my findings.

Over all i give this product 9 out of 10 stars

The product is really good and for $6.95( I think thats the price) on CoastalScents.com it's a really good deal. Also if you sign up for the coastal scents newsletter they will email you when they have like 14% off or buy 3 gel liners get one free.

Thank's for reading and i hope this was helpful!

Swatches/Photos:

In the above picture the pink one is labeled skyline but its not , its Sexy Pink
